William Cowper [William Cowper]
(1731–1800) an English ↑poet whose work is simpler and more natural than most 18th–century English poetry. He was very unhappy for most of his life, and much of his work is sad. His best-known works are ↑hymns, such as God Moves in a Mysterious Way.
